Salary is paid in arrears in 12 equal instalments; payments are made by direct transfer into your personal bank account.
25 days entitlement per annum, exclusive of bank holidays. Entitlement increases by one day for every full year of employment up to a maximum of 30 days per annum. Leave entitlement is calculated on a pro-rata basis for part time staff. The annual leave year runs from 1st January to 31st December.
We offer all employees a generous pension scheme with Aviva. Friends of the Earth matches employees' contributions up to 7%. For example, if an employee contributes 6% then Friends of the Earth will match this. Employees can contribute any percentage they wish. All employees are auto-enrolled into the pension scheme at 3%.
For full time employees your hours of work will be 35 hours per week. You may be required to work evening and weekend hours to fit in with the flexible needs of your role. Friends of the Earth operates a flexitime scheme with normal core office hours between 10.00 and 16.30, within a working time bandwidth of 07.00-20.00. Employees are entitled to an unpaid lunch break of between 30 minutes and two hours. We recognise time in lieu however we do not pay overtime.
Friends of the Earth are committed to enabling applications for flexible working as far as is reasonably possible. We also offer generous enhanced shared maternity leave, parental leave and different sabbatical options.
Friends of the Earth offers a life assurance scheme covering death during employment: four times basic salary to nominated individuals should an employee die in service.
Child care vouchers are available to all employees with child care costs who earn above the minimum salary threshold.
Employee Assistance Programme
Our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) offers you immediate access to 24 hour telephone counselling and legal information services, provided by an independent health and wellbeing provider, Interhealth. Interhealth’s experienced and qualified telephone counsellors provide around the clock support to help you with a wide range of personal and work related problems in areas such as stress, relationship difficulties, bereavement, anxiety, family worries, alcohol/drug abuse, employment, or financial concerns.
We offer various loans such as season ticket, bikes and to support personal development (up to £2,500). These loans are offered to employees after completion of probation and total loan maximum amount is £5,000.
Learning & Development
Friends of the Earth is keen to deliver a learning and development programme to all employees to ensure we encompass all needs.
We offer all staff a free eye test with Specsavers. We also offer vouchers contributing to the cost of glasses if needed for DSE purposes.
